Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid (2 Days In Office, 3 Days Remote)
Salary: $85,000 - $114,321

About the Role

A highly respected law firm in the La Jolla/UTC area is seeking a Litigation Secretary to support a busy team of attorneys handling sophisticated labor & employment and civil litigation matters. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong state and federal court experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing high-quality legal work.

Following an initial onboarding and training period, this position offers a hybrid schedule with three remote days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • File documents electronically in California state and federal courts.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, docket deadlines, court dates, and case schedules.
  • Assist with all phases of litigation, including discovery, pleadings, and trial preparation.
  • Prepare document shells, update templates, and ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements.
  • Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
  • Manage case files and document management systems.
  • Handle attorney time entry, expense reports, and administrative support functions.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, vendors, and opposing counsel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Litigation Secretary or Legal Assistant supporting civil litigation matters.
  • Strong knowledge of California state and federal court procedures and e-filing requirements.
  • Experience managing litigation calendars and docketing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the full lifecycle of civil litigation, including discovery and trial preparation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word formatting.
  • Experience with legal technology such as iManage, NetDocuments, Milana/CompuLaw, PACER, ECF, or similar systems is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
